The last two weeks have served up a heaping helping of promos for the rapidly approaching fall season. Some of them have been awesome, some have been super-stylized, some offer small tastes of anticipated cameos and some are just awkward. But what about the shows that are currently airing? …Particularly the ones that personify small African rodents?

Almost a month into its third season, odds are that you’ve caught Animal Planet’s bizarrely addictive Meerkat Manor at some point. But what you may not know – if you don’t live in an urban hub or spend as much time online as I do – is that besides providing compelling entertainment (and education!), Meerkat Manor is probably the most cleverly marketed show in the history of television.

Hot on the heels of their amazing Sopranos-esque ads that popped up all summer, their newest commercials offer character introductions to new viewers while masterfully incorporating pop music. Check out matriarch Flower’s below, but be sure to head over to the official site and see them all under “Meet the Meerkats”. Carlos is clearly the funniest, but his spot hasn’t made it to YouTube yet. If that whets your appetite, catch up with this season online or play a game of Dance Dance Revolution… meerkat style. It’s almost too much to process.
